Collage Snowmen by Grade 3
Love these collage snowmen that the 3rd grade created. I have been doing them for quite a few years now and every years I am so pleased with the results. They have a tissue paper background applied with liquid starch. When it is dry, they paint over it with tempra paint. Love them!

"Collage Snowmen" by Third Grade
How beautiful are these snowmen? I absolutely love all the bright colors. They put down a layer of tissue paper and painted a white snowman on it. After it dried, they painted all the details onto their snowmen. I love how you can see a little bit of the tissue paper color through the white paint.

"Barns" by Third Grade
This is a great project that was inspired by the barn drawing lesson on the "Deep Space Sparkle" blog. The third grade did such a great job! They drew barns and scenery in pencil, and then painted in all the different areas using tempra paint. We talked about painting areas that were not touching and allowing an area to start to dry before painting an area next to it. Also, it took them a couple classes to complete painting the barns, so that helped to keep the paints from blending together where they met. When they were finished and the paints were dry, they went around all the objects in their pictures and outlined them with black paint.

Falling Leaves by Third Grade
Another of my favorite fall art projects was completed by my third grade students. They used liquid watercolors, which gave the finished project a very vibrant look. First they traced leaf shaped onto their papers (12x18 white drawing paper). Then they traced over each leaf shape with a black crayon to create a wax border. Next, they painted each leaf with bright liquid watercolors. Finally, they painted in the background with turquoise liquid watercolor to create the sky area.
I love how they are bright, bold, and beautiful, and how they looks like someone just threw a handful of them in the air and now they are tumbling back down through the sky.
