A'hoy Matey! by second grade

The second grade has continued to work with watercolor paints. We were inspired by a lesson on the art blog Deep Space Sparkle, one of my favorite sources for ideas! For these pictures they sketched out a ship and background. I drew one as they drew and they were allowed to add in any details I had on mine to theirs'. Much fun was had designing their ships. Then they sharpied over their lines and painted it in with water colors. They came out great.

Crazy Cool Cats!! by 3rd grade

These cats are cool! The third grade designed these cat heads using oil pastels. They are pretty abstract.  I love them! They really enjoyed coming up with designs for their cats!! You may have seen them hanging outside the 3rd grade room.

A while back they also completed a project that focused on overlapping in a picture. They designed their own birds while overlapping them on 12"x18" drawing paper. They colored them in using art sticks. Here are some of the results...

They used these to secure their flowers to the black paper, but they are about a half inch from the surface of the paper. They look so cool in person. Here are some pictures of some finished pieces...
